My name is Rose and I believe in the combined healing power of the body and Art. I am an Art Therapist, Yoga Teacher and Somatic Practitioner.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have known the importance of the creative act and movement: my mother was an artist and my father a contemporary dancer.
Like most people who are drawn to this work I had my own fair share of difficulties in my life. I lost my father when I was 9 and had a really hard time in my teenage years. That is when I began to use yoga and art-making therapeutically in my own life to heal from trauma.
In my 20's I dedicated myself to my own healing, engaging in therapy, shamanic retreats, yoga practice and Art Therapy training. During this time I gained much experience working with children and teens in schools, residential programs and community projects. I observed how movement and art making were incredibly healing for other people too.
In 2015 I began my post-graduate degree in (MSc) Art Psychotherapy at Queen Margaret University. After this I completed 400hrs of trauma informed yoga teacher training for both adults and children. I also completed various other trainings focusing on healing trauma through the body, including Somatic Experiencing.
For the past five years I have been working with adults and children combining Art Therapy and somatic practices to help in healing trauma.
