My yoga & art journey
My name is Rose and I believe in the combined healing power of Yoga and Art. I am an artist, Art Therapist and yoga teacher living in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have known the importance of the creative act: my mother was an artist and my father a contemporary dancer.
After attending Art School and completing my undergraduate degree in Art History, I decided to spend some time living and working in Texas, USA. During my time there I worked as a mentor with children who experienced various forms of disability and it was around this time that I made the decision to become an Art Therapist.
After returning to the UK, I gained much experience working with children and teens in schools, residential programs and community projects. I observed how movement and art making were incredibly healing.
In 2015 I began my post-graduate degree in (MSc) Art Psychotherapy at Queen Margaret University and completed two placements in which I worked with both adults and children in Art Psychotherapy. I fell in love with the practice and began to wonder what it would be like to combine movement and yoga together with Art Therapy.
At this point I had developed a dedicated daily yoga practice and I experienced first-hand the healing potential of combining yoga and art-making. I resolved that I would devote myself to being able to facilitate this process with the people with whom I work. Therefore, after completing my Art Therapy training, I also completed a 200hr (YAA) yoga teaching training course and a 50hr kids yoga teacher training course which allows me to work with both children and adults in Art-Yoga therapies.
